On Friday, CNN reported that employees who work in the pharmacy section of Walgreens, such as pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, will carry out a walkout from October 9th to the 11th, according to an organizer.

The report noted that the walkout will see some employees only walk out for one day, while at other locations, employees will shut down the pharmacies for all three days

The report said that organizers attributed the walkout to management imposing what employees of the pharmacy sections call burdensome prescription and vaccination expectations, which the company places on pharmacists.

Walgreens management had no immediate comment on the report.

The Walgreens walkout comes on the heels of a 72-hour strike by nurses, medical technicians, and support staff which work at hundreds of Kaiser hospitals and clinics this week. It was said to be the largest such strike to ever be performed by workers in the US healthcare sector.

On Friday, the strike at Kaiser Permanente, which saw 75,000 healthcare workers hit the picket lines, came to a close as both sides agreed to resume stalled contract negotiations. However union leaders warned there could be more walkouts on the horizon.
