Fox News Corp. has replaced political commentator Tucker Carlson, who was removed from his show but maintained under contract, with Fox personality Jesse Watters, who will now assume Carlson’s prime-time slot on the cable news network.

The new lineup was revealed Monday by Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott, and featured Jesse Watters Primetime heading from its 7PM EST slot  to 8PM EST. Laura Ingraham and Greg Gutfeld will shift to 7PM and 10PM respectively.

Scott noted that the schedule, which goes into effect on July 17th, will “ensure our viewers have access to unrivaled coverage from our best-in-class team for years to come.”

Following the network’s suspension of Tucker Carlson, almost a third of the network’s prime-time viewers abandoned the network over the following month. During the first two days following Carlson’s suspension, Fox’s 8PM time slot lost 50percent of its viewership. Carlson’s show was the most-watched cable news show in the US when it was cancelled. Since the suspension, the host’s former spot has been held by a suite of rotating hosts.

Carlson’s suspension came after the news network reached an almost $800 million settlement with voting machine company Dominion Voting Systems, which claimed the network had spread spurious accusations and lies about the integrity of the voting machine company’s election equipment used in the 2020 US elections.

Although Fox has claimed its firing of Carlson was unrelated to the lawsuit, it has not explained exactly why he was taken off the air, when he was the network’s most popular host..

Carlson had been a vocal critic of both “woke” culture, as well as the administration of President Joe Biden, as he critiqued both the Republican and Democrat establishment. Currently Carlson is broadcasting his own video segments from his Twitter account.

At Fox News, Carlson’s last broadcast had drawn  2.65 million viewers. His first Twitter video garnered 119.4 million views.
