On Monday Raytheon Technologies (RTX) announced it has been awarded a $264 million modification contract to produce and deliver 571 short range AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles to the United States Navy.
The defense firm noted that this was a modification to a production Lot 23 contract which had been originally awarded to the company in December of 2022.
The defense firm also added that it will be producing associated parts for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and its foreign military sales customers and it would supply captive air training systems, containers, related kits, and support equipment for the missiles.
The defense contractor expects that the majority of the contract will be fulfilled by August of 2026.
Separately, Raytheon has noted that it forecasts a $500 million reduction in free cash flow as a result of a supply chain problem which is occurring with the GTF engine manufactured by its Pratt & Whitney subsidiary, according to the company’s spokesperson, in a statement made during its investor day on Monday.
