Car makers Renault and Nissan have canceled a planned announcement of a new deal for a restructured alliance, as the two companies continue seek common ground in negotiations, according to a report by Japanese TV network JNN Friday.
Negotiations continue between both sides, as they seek to restructure their alliance. Renault would like to see Nissan invest in its Electric Vehicle business, as Nissan would like to see Renault sell part of the 43% stake it holds in Nissan, to create a more balanced partnership.
The negotiations have particularly stalled over disagreements on how to share intellectual property, and that precipitated the delayed announcement on December 7th, according to JNN.
No new announcement date has been set, according to the report, however negotiations continue, and it is expected at some point some agreement will be reached. JNN did not specify whether its reporting was based on multiple sources, or a single source.
Both Renault and Nissan declined to comment on the canceled announcement or the status of negotiations.
The December 7th date had been reported by Reuters as a possible date for an announcement on the restructuring of their alliance.
