Speaking with reporters Monday, President Biden confirmed his administration is looking at a gas tax holiday, or gas rebate cards to help alleviate the economic pain of sky-high gas prices.
When asked about the proposal for a gas tax holiday by a reporter, Biden replied, “Yes, I’m considering it. I hope I have a decision based on data I’m looking for by the end of the week,”
Asked about gas rebate cards, he responded, “Well that’s part of what we’re considering, part of the whole operation. It’s all on the table right now.”
Biden also noted that oil and gas company CEOs were going to be meeting with administration members, including Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, and he was planning to meet with oil executives personally, himself.
He then claimed that oil companies were purposely cutting back production to try and get ahead of the transition to electric vehicles, and that was responsible for the shortage and the high prices.
His final statement was, “We have a chance to make a fundamental turn toward renewable energy, electric vehicles, and not just vehicles, across the board.”
