Beijing is allowing indoor dining on Monday, with two small exceptions for specific districts, as China completes its exit from stringent Covid lockdown measures and returns to normal. Restaurants and bars had been limited to allowing takeaway orders since early May.

Both Beijing and Shanghai are returning to normal as infections are falling, after two months if aggressive lockdowns that crushed economic activity and had markets jittery.

In Beijing, in addition to allowing dining on Monday, traffic bans will be lifted, allowing employees to travel to and from work. Residents will need to show a clean PCR test taken within 72 hours if they want to enter public spaces and take public transport.
