On May 19th, Elon Musk filed paperwork to open a 24-hour Tesla diner in Hollywood. The 9,300-square-foot space will feature a drive-in movie theater with two 45 foot LED movie screens, parking, and Tesla chargers so you can charge your electric car while watching a movie and getting food. The architectural plans show a futuristic two-story diner, which will feature both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seats will have a direct view of the movie screens, and food will be delivered to patrons by wait staff, possibly on roller skates.
Musk had first tweeted about this idea back in 2018, referring to it as an old school “roller skates & rock restaurant” where you would be able to charge your Tesla. But this is the first sign he is actually implementing the plan. When he originally tweeted about the idea, he had added, “Of course you will be able to pay in Doge,” a cryptocurrency he has had a playful role in promoting off and on.
Tesla filed applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark a ‘T’ logo, as a brand symbol for various restaurant ideas, from self service to take out.
The paperwork says it will be located at 7001 W. Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.
The plans still need to be approved by the city, and thus far Tesla has had no comment on the report, and there is no date set for the opening.
